Cape Cod Fishing Report - October

It has been the story of False Albacore here this fall on Cape Cod.  Albie fever struck Cape fisherman hard as we had one of the best false albacore seasons in recent memory.  Albies came charging through Nantucket Sound just prior to Labor Day and have wreaked havoc on schools of peanut bunker all through September.  The reliable Hogy epoxy jigs proved successful as well as Bonito Bunnies and peanut mushy patterns.  It remains to be seen if the hard-tails will stick around into October.  The Bayside beaches have been fishing well with the onshore wind driving bait close to shore and resulting in sporadic daytime blitzes.  The recent noreaster’ storm and hurricane remnants has brought fishing to a standstill here this week, but the fall fishing should continue to improve as we move into October.

We’re proud to announce that we are now Cape Cod’s Orvis dealership and are stocking a full offering of Orvis fly fishing products.  Be sure to visit the Angler’s Shop @ Black Eel Outfitters to gear up for the fall run!
