The schoolie invasion has been going strong for about a week now.  South-side beaches have been giving up good numbers, Yarmouth to Chatham. Stripers up to 30’’ have been caught in the Bass River, and while not guaranteed to give up a keeper, it has produced plenty of opportunities for the shore-bound angler to catch some early season fish.  Bunker have also been spotted in Bass River, giving good signs that the bigger fish are just behind.

Cape Cod Bay is currently loaded with bait, with bird activity being almost constant.  Fish have been hard to come by on the bay-side but we are hopefully just a few days away from it breaking totally wide-open.  The good news for this week is that there are some ideal tides this weekend during the morning hours for the Brewster Flats.  We have also received a fresh report of bluefish arriving in local waters, so it might be time to invest in that wire leader material!

Freshwater fishing is still at its finest!  Largemouths are getting extremely aggressive, as are the Smallmouth Bass.  Trout fishing has also continued to be good, with some nice evening hatches occurring at the local ponds.  You really cannot go wrong for whatever you decide to fish for!

Stop by the Angler’s Shop at BLACK EEL OUTFITTERS this weekend and let us help you get geared up for the season!  The fishing Cape-wide is really starting to heat up!
